In 1974 JanSport introduced the Hoss backpack featuring a revolutionary reinforced leather bottom creating stability, reliability and durability. The Hoss backpack features a large top loading compartment capable of carrying a laptop and front and side gear pockets. The shoulder straps are adjustable seat belt webbing and the backpack is finished with an original JanSport woven label from 1967.

The year was 1967, the Summer of Love. The Summer three Seattle college grads were looking to avoid the confines of nine-to-five jobs: Skip, an outdoor enthusiast; Murray, an engineer; and Jan, a seamstress. Murray had won an award for an aluminum frame bag design and told Jan if she created a bag that sold, he'd marry her and name the company after her. She did. It did. And JanSport was born.
Forty-one years later, JanSport reignites the Summer of '67 with its new Heritage Series, a modern and honest re-issue of its original designs, reflecting the outdoor functionality and aesthetics at the core of the brand. These bright-colored bags feature an original JanSport woven label, weathered Cordura® and nylon fabrics, antique brass metal zippers, and classic seat belt webbing.
