The CND campaigns non-violently to rid the world of nuclear weapons and to create genuine security for future generations.
The first two nuclear bombs, dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945 killed over 250,000 people. Yet these weapons were tiny compared with the destructive force of modern nuclear arsenals.
Founded in 1958, CND works to persuade the British government to fulfill its moral and legal obligations: to scrap its nuclear weapons and to help bring about a nuclear-weapons-free world.
