A native of Los Angeles and practitioner of Los Angeles lifestyle, Rick Klotz was always searching for an avenue to combine his influences. With a passion for graphic design, Klotz cut his teeth designing flyers for the variety of club and music scenes bubbling in the LA area during the mid to late eighties. In 1989, Rick’s design skills and style segued from the paper medium to the cloth and Freshjive was born.

Considered by some as a catalyst to the Streetwear segment, Freshjive was rooted in Los Angeles culture and drew influences from hip hop, punk, surf, skate and art. Since it was conceived, the quality and style of the brand has been complimented by political and social commentary as well as humor.

Sometimes controversial, Freshjive has remained true to its origins and influences.
