The Superstar was introduced in 1969 on court for testing and was released to the public in 1970 as the first low basketball shoe to feature an all-leather upper and the world renowned rubber shell toe. By the mid-70s, three quarters of all NBA players were wearing new shell toes from adidas.

This exciting new version is given a new lease of life with a star and rainbow pattern which has never been seen before.

When Adi Dassler began what was to become one of the biggest success stories ever, he followed three guiding principles in his development work, driven by his passion for sports and shoemaking: to produce the best shoe to serve the needs of the sport, to protect the athlete for injury and to make the product durable,Adidas was being born.

The story began in his mothers washroom, a space of around 200 square foot, with no machinery and no electricity. Dassler, with two hired shoemakers, began producing 100% hand-made leather shoes. At the age of 23, Adi convinced his brother Rudolf to join the business from which they register their small business as "Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory".

The rest they say is history and the Adidas Originals collection was introduced to pay homage to some of the best design silhouettes ever produced.
