Levis Vintage 1955 501® Capital "E" Red Tab Jeans
The 1955 501® has a classic '50s shape: more anti-fit in the seat area and a slightly fuller leg shape gives a rounder, boxier silhouette. The leather patch is replaced by a Two Horse® patch made of heavy-duty card stock, described as "leather-like". The word "Levi's" is now stiched on both sides of the Capital E red tab (two sided tabs were introduced in 1953), and the jean is manufactured from Cone Mills 12.5oz red-line shrink-to-fit selvedge XX denim, coloured a rich, dark indigo that looks almost saturated: very characteristic of the time.
When Levi Strauss founded Levi Strauss & Co. in 1853, it was the start of a company that embossed generations.
In the beginning Levis stood for robust working clothes of goldminers and pioneers. But over the years the name became a symbol of the rebellion of youth.
The Levis Vintage collection keeps the 133 year old history of denim alive by creating exact reproductions of original jeanswear from the Levi Strauss & Co archives in San Francisco.
Focusing on authenticism, the denim garments are made with historic quality xx-selvage denim from original narrow loom machinery, and non-denim pieces are exact sourced reproductions. |
